The Cleveland Browns have begun taking steps toward changing the culture around the organization that has led to many years of disappointment.

It now appears that head coach Hue Jackson may not be a part of that rebuilding process next season as new general manager John Dorsey recently stopped short of stating that the 52-year-old would indeed be back during a radio interview on the “Really Big Show” with Aaron Goldhammer on WKNR 850. “I live in the present and I build for the future,” he said. “Right now the sun's out, the tarps are coming out, we're practicing outside, we're getting ready to play the Baltimore Ravens and that's my sole focus.  And then it's also getting familiar with the whole layout and the organizational structure.”

This is quite a change up from owner Jimmy Haslam's statement last week in the decision to fire Sashi Brown that Jackson would stay in place heading into next season. Jackson had also stated a few days ago that he didn't believe that Dorsey would fire him if Cleveland wound up going 0-16 this season.

However, much of that could lie on how the things transpire in the offseason with the team beginning with the 2018 NFL Draft. The Browns currently possess six extra draft picks, including a first-rounder, two seconds, a fourth, and a fifth. They also could potentially have $59.3 million in cap space that may help them bring in notable free agents.

It is clear that this is still a fluid situation with much that could still possibly unfold over the offseason or possibly as soon as the regular season ends. In the meantime, there are still three games left on the slate for Cleveland in the 2017 campaign.
