In his first official NFL action in nearly three years, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon made his return to the field on Sunday afternoon against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Gordon didn't skip a beat by picking up where he left off, hauling four of 11 targets for 85 receiving yards. Following the game, the 26-year-old voiced much encouragement about his performance, but at the same time emphasized that there is still plenty of work ahead.

According to Pat Manamon of ESPN.

“We got a lot more work to do,” Gordon said. “I'm just trying to go out there and make sure I do my job to the best of my ability, try to execute and make sure we have a lot of fun doing it.”

The former Pro Bowl wideout was quite active in his first game back that saw him take a heavy workload.  Head coach Hue Jackson had suggested all week leading up to Sunday afternoon that Gordon would play as much as he could possibly handle.

There were some bright spots, as he made an impressive tightrope catch down the sideline in the first half along with a 39-yard grab late in the fourth quarter. The performance could have been much bigger had rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer not overthrown him in the first half in what could have possibly been a touchdown reception.

In the third quarter, Kizer also passed behind Gordon and the pass was broken up.

It was an outing that had plenty of positives. Real optimism in Cleveland, even if only at one position.
