New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels says he has had “no contact” with the Cleveland Browns about their head coaching vacancy, according to Nora Princiotti of The Boston Globe.

McDaniels had been linked to both the Browns and Green Bay Packers, but this latest revelation and the Packers' decision to hire Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur suggests the 42-year-old may not be going anywhere. NFL insider Ian Rapoport suggested as much Monday night after LaFleur agreed to coach the Packers:

McDaniels has spent most of his NFL coaching career with the Patriots, and his only head coaching experience is a disastrous stint with the Denver Broncos that didn't even last two full seasons. He went 8-8 in his first year with the Broncos before going 3-9 in Year 2 and getting fired amid a videotaping scandal.

The 42-year-old returned to the Patriots in early 2012 during the playoffs and has been there ever since. McDaniels is a five-time Super Bowl champion thanks to his time with New England.

McDaniels' name came up last year for another coaching job, and he even agreed to become the new coach of the Indianapolis Colts. He ultimately backed out of the deal, though, in order to return to New England. The Colts hired Frank Reich, and now both men will be coaching this upcoming weekend in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
