When the Cleveland Browns signed embattled running back Kareem Hunt earlier this offseason, both the Browns and Hunt knew the deal.

While Hunt's suspension was not yet announced at the time, Cleveland knew Hunt would be banned for some games, and he ended up getting hit with an eight-game suspension for assaulting a woman outside of a Cleveland hotel back in February 2018.

Hunt also knows that his image isn't too great right now and that he has to work toward earning everyone's trust back.

“I’ve got to earn everybody’s trust,” Hunt said during a press conference at the Browns' facility on Wednesday, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

The 23-year-old added that he will never be involved in another incident like that again, saying that he is “not going to mess this up again.” Hunt also stated that he understands the only way he can make everyone believe him is by his actions in the future.

Hunt, who played his collegiate football at the University of Toledo, was originally selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round (86th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He went on to have a spectacular rookie campaign, racking up 1,327 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground while averaging 4.9 yards per carry. In addition, he hauled in 53 receptions for 455 yards and three scores and earned a trip to the Pro Bowl.

Hunt then played 11 games with the Chiefs in 2018 before the video of the incident surfaced, resulting in Kansas City releasing him.
