Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt's suspension won't be as significant as it originally seemed. The former Kansas City Chiefs star “underwent surgery this morning to repair a sports hernia injury,” the Browns announced on Twitter.

“A full recovery is anticipated prior to his return to action in Week 10 of the regular season,” the team wrote. Hunt, of course, is suspended for the first eight games of the season as a result of the league's investigation into an incident where Hunt was videotaped kicking a woman.

It was that incident that resulted in Hunt's release from Kansas City. The injury will sideline Hunt for about 4-6 weeks, notes Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. As such, it appears Hunt would've missed the first month or so of the season anyway even if he wasn't suspended.

The Browns' backfield is still in very good hands without Hunt, as they have Nick Chubb to rely on. When Hunt finally comes back in Week 10, Cleveland will have a one-two punch that has the potential to terrorize opposing defenses.

Hunt was one of the best running backs in the league before he was released, but Kansas City cut him because they didn't feel he was completely honest with them.

In limited preseason action so far, Hunt has looked like his old self. Still only 24 and with very little tread on his tires, he should provide a much-needed boost of energy over the second half of the season. Last year, Hunt had 14 touchdowns in just 11 games. It's unclear when exactly he suffered the injury, but thankfully it doesn't sound too serious.
