There is a newfound sense of optimism surrounding the Cleveland Browns going into the 2018 NFL season. It appears the Browns even have some firm believers in Hollywood as well.

Actor and known New England Patriots fan Mark Wahlberg is adamant about a Super Bowl rematch between his team and Philadelphia Eagles. Wahlberg told TMZ that he also bet big money on Cleveland to win six games this season:

“I placed three bets,” Wahlberg said. “I bet Eagles return to the Super Bowl. Patriots to return, both of them to win. And then I bet that the Browns win more than 5.5 games with Baker Mayfield at the helm.”

Wahlberg's comments are interesting, to say the least. However, it is not far-fetched to imagine this newly-revamped Browns team mustering up six wins.

The team was extremely busy bolstering its roster this offseason through free agency and the 2018 NFL Draft. They kicked things off by bringing in former Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor and wide receiver Jarvis Landry to help fortify the offense. The Browns are hoping their recent draft capital on defense will finally start to pay off as well.

That said, it is still a rather bold investment from Wahlberg. The criteria of his bet make it even more intriguing. It is unclear whether or not him winning the bet is contingent on quarterback Baker Mayfield being the starter. All reports from practice thus far suggest that Taylor is the starter by a long shot.

Regardless, Cleveland has only won one game over the last two season. A five-game jump this year would undoubtedly be a significant improvement.
