Former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks will be headed to the Cleveland Browns after all. That is despite the veteran linebacker’s surprising denial of the deal over Twitter.

After NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport first broke the news that Kendricks was Cleveland-bound, the former Eagle went on Twitter to negatively comment on that tweet.

Shortly after, Kendricks told Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press that he was not, in fact, signing with the Browns. And he used some pretty colorful language to say as much.

“No, it’s not accurate,’’ Kendricks said. “I don’t know who the (expletive) said that. That (expletive) is (expletive). Whoever said that (expletive) is (expletive). That’s all I have to say, man. I’m not really talking to anybody else about it. It’s (expletive). I don’t like people like that. I don’t respect people like that. And that’s all I have to say. Thank you.’’

Eventually, though, another report came out from Yahoo Sports' Jordan Schultz saying that the deal was indeed done and will be worth a maximum of $3.5 million.

It remains to be seen what Kendricks’ motivations were for outright denying the deal so publicly and forcefully. Whatever his reasons were, his decision doesn’t make him look so good now considering that the deal will appear to go through as initially reported despite his denial.

Nevertheless, Kendricks will likely be glad to have found a new home so quickly after his release from the Eagles. The Browns should also be pleased to add another capable linebacker to an already strong group that also features Jamie Collins, Christian Kirksey, and Pro Bowler Joe Schobert.
