Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett made headlines for all the wrong reasons during the win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night. It appears the league has already cracked down on the primary players involved in the brawl.

Garrett essentially spoiled a much-needed victory for the Browns by hitting quarterback Mason Rudolph with his own helmet. NFL Senior Vice President of Football Michael Signora of has since released a statement that revealed the suspensions of Garrett, defensive tackles Larry Ogunjobe, and center Maurkice Pouncey:

Garrett has been suspended without pay indefinitely – at a minimum fir the remainder of the regular season and postseason – and must meet with the commissioner's office prior to a decision on his reinstatement. He was also fined an additional amount. Garrett violated unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct rules, as well as fighting, removing the helmet of an opponent and using the helmet as a weapon.

The fact that Garret faces the stiffest penalty should hardly come as any surprise considering his actions had served as the catalyst for the fight that took place. Even quarterback Baker Mayfield had acknowledged the fact that this teammate was due for a suspension during his postgame interview.

The loss of Garrett undoubtedly deals a crushing blow to a Browns team that was hoping to use this win as a springboard for one last run at the playoffs. However, they will now need to find a way to move on without their best defensive player and it remains to be seen just how long it will be before he is even considered for reinstatement.
