The Cleveland Browns could get a big boost with the potential return of running back Nick Chubb this weekend.

Chubb is trending towards “Active” status for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports Chubb will be taken off injured reserve barring any setback in practice.

Rapoport noted that the Browns are likely to make a call on Chubb on Friday after they ensure he suffers no setback from practice and everything looks good for a return Sunday versus the Houston Texans.

The former Georgia star has missed the team's last four games after suffering an MCL sprain in Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys. The Browns will sure be glad to have Chubb in the backfield in the event he is cleared to return.

Chubb was dominating early in the year. The 24-year-old had only 10 carries in the team's season opener against the Baltimore Ravens. However, Chubb exploded for 232 combined rushing yards and four touchdowns in the team's next two games. He got off to a good start against the Cowboys, too, rushing six times for 43 yards before sustaining the knee injury.

Cleveland's offense has had a terrible time establishing any momentum this year. The Browns scored at least 32 points in every game between Week 2 and Week 5.

After that, though, the Browns couldn't even hit 230 yards of total offense in two of the last three games, suffering losses in each of those contests.

Cleveland will be looking to come out of the bye with a win, and Chubb could provide a major lift if he is permitted to return.
