The Cleveland Browns managed to make quite a statement with their high-scoring win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. Unfortunately, they suffered a major casualty in the process with running back Nick Chubb forced to exit the game with a knee injury.

Such injuries have often been followed up with bad news for running backs in the 2020 NFL season. Fortunately, the Browns are hopeful that Chubb's injury is not deemed to be too severe, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk:

As one source explained it, the Browns are cautiously optimistic that Chubb didn’t suffer a torn ACL. For now, however, there’s nothing definitive on the situation.

Although this appears to be a positive update on Chubb, his MRI on Monday will provide more clarity on a potential timetable for his injury.

Chubb's potential absence would leave a notable void to fill given his role as the centerpiece of the offense. He rushed for 335 yards and four touchdowns on 57 carries in the 2020 NFL season until his injury during the fourth quarter.

While losing Chubb deals a critical blow, there is good reason for the Browns to be optimistic about the state of the backfield thanks to the efforts of Kareem Hunt and D'Ernest Johnson. Johnson led the team in rushing with 83 yards while Hunt ran for 71 yards and scored two touchdowns and they combined to average seven yards per carry.

Cleveland will need this 1-2 punch to continue carrying the ground game while the team gets gets further updates on Chubb's timetable.
