This past year has certainly been a whirlwind for new Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens.

Kitchens began the 2018 campaign as the Browns' running backs coach, but midway through the season, Cleveland made sweeping coaching changes, and in the process, Kitchens was promoted to offensive coordinator.

The Browns then had an impressive second half of the season, going 5-2 over their last seven games under the direction of Gregg Williams, who was serving as interim head coach.

However, Cleveland decided not to bring back Williams for 2019, instead promoting Kitchens once again, this time to the role of head coach.

University of Alabama head coach Nick Saban his high praise for Kitchens, saying he thinks he is going to be very successful in his new position:

“”I think Freddie's got a tremendous psychological disposition about what it takes to be successful as a coach,” Saban said on NFL Network. … He has a great common sense. He is very bright. He is very intelligent. He understands human behavior very well. I think the relationships that he is going to build on that team and the trust and the respect that they have in their organization because of that is going to help them be successful. They have some good young players. I think Freddie is going to do an outstanding job with those guys.”

The Browns certainly have high expectations heading into 2019 thanks to a high-profile offseason in which they brought in the likes of Odell Beckham Jr., Kareem Hunt, Sheldon Richardson and Olivier Vernon.

Cleveland has not made the playoffs since the 2002-03 campaign, so if Kitchens can get this team back to the postseason, he will become an overnight legend in Ohio.
