The Cleveland Browns are looking for their next head coach after Freddie Kitchens' disastrous single year in charge. They are currently looking at multiple people to get for the position. One of the emerging favorites to get the post is San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh.

ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed that the Browns would interview the playoff-bound defensive coordinator about the head coaching post. Should things go well for him, he could be headed to the Dawg Pound by the end of the Niners' playoff run and rebuild the Browns.

Interestingly, the Browns are going in a completely different direction after the lone season they had with Kitchens. The lack of success they had throughout 2019 saw them struggle through all manner of opponents. With the AFC North a tough place to play in, it makes a lot of sense that the Cleveland front office felt the need to hire a defensive mind to shore up the line.

The Browns are not making a mistake in considering Saleh for the job. In only three years as the Niners' defensive coordinator, he has helped transform the team into one of the toughest defenses in the NFL. In 2019, the 49ers ranked second in the regular-season total yards allowed rankings at 4509 yards. The only other team that did better than them was the New England Patriots.

If he does get the head coaching job, Saleh will have a tough task ahead of him. The Browns desperately need direction if they would make it somewhere with all of the talent they have.
