Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. created quite the stir Tuesday afternoon with a pair of cryptic tweets.

Beckham initially tweeted out “2nd act,” and the replies were flooded with all sorts of jersey swaps. Not even a minute later, the star wideout tweeted “God. Thank u for clarity”:

Is Odell Beckham Jr. foreshadowing a potential trade, or simply venting online?

Browns fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Kim Jones of NFL Network said she texted Beckham about the tweets, per Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com. Beckham explained to Jones he was referencing his comeback from an ACL injury sustained in October:

This makes perfect sense. After all, Odell Beckham Jr.'s true “2nd act” (in terms of his professional career) started when he was traded to the Browns from the New York Giants.

There has been ample speculation as to Beckham's future in Cleveland. With the free-agent wide receiver market mostly devoid of top guys, it would not be a surprise to learn some teams have inquired about Beckham. But the Browns have yet to give any strong indication they are open to dealing either OBJ or Jarvis Landry.

Beckham remains one of the top wideouts in football, when healthy. He had over 1,000 yards receiving in a “down” year in 2019 and scored four touchdowns in seven games this past season prior to the knee injury.

Moving Odell Beckham Jr. would save the Browns over $15 million in cap space, so anything is possible. However, it seems more likely Cleveland hopes OBJ comes back stronger and helps Baker Mayfield continue to evolve as a quarterback.
