The Cleveland Browns fell vastly short of expectations with their embarrassing loss to the Tennessee Titans in the 2019 NFL season opener.

Most fans did not stick around to watch the Browns get trounced by the Titans 43-13. According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com Beckham feels the onus is on the team and the fans to fight through it.

“For those fans, we don’t want to see them leaving with nine minutes left in the quarter,” Beckham said. “We want to be able to stick there and fight through it. I know there’s been losing around here, but that’s not what we’re here to do. We’ve got to have everybody stick with us, the fans as well, as this team has to come together and we each got to play better.”

The Browns have generated plenty of hype with their star-studded acquisitions in recent years. Expectations were as high as ever with the arrival of Beckham as the new focal point in their offense. Unfortunately, they were not able to justify any reason for their high expectations.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield was nothing short of abysmal after spending the offseason embracing the high expectations and criticizing other teams. As a result, Beckham did not fare much better in the season opener after finishing with seven receptions for 71 yards.

The All-Pro wideout certainly did not help the cause by drawing attention toward the $350,000 watch he wore against the Titans. Recent reports suggest that the NFL is not too happy with his gameday accessory. If Beckham wants there to be synergy between the team and fans, he will certainly need to play his part in making that happen.
