The acquisition of former New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has generated plenty of hype for the Cleveland Browns going into the 2019 NFL season. It is an outcome that Beckham insists his former team did not see coming.

It is safe to say there has been no love lost between both sides since the move. According to Ben Baskin of Sports Illustrated, Beckham feels the Giants attempted to spurn him by sending him to the Browns:

“This wasn’t no business move,” Beckham said. “This was personal. They thought they’d send me here to die.”

There is no question that Beckham's tenure with the Giants did not end in an ideal fashion. Aside from the constant losing on the field were some troubling indications off the field regarding the drama between the front office and their star player.

When news of New York's intention to trade Beckham was revealed, Cleveland was not pegged to be among the notable list of landing spots. Regardless, it is safe to say he has landed in an ideal situation.

Although the Browns have hardly been a moniker for success over the past two decades, they enjoyed quite the resurgence in the 2018 campaign. Not only do they boast one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the league in Baker Mayfield, but Beckham will also be sharing the field with his best friend and college teammate Jarvis Landry once again.

More importantly, Beckham will be able to compete on a legitimate Super Bowl contender for the first time in his career.
