Greedy Williams may have been one of the later cornerbacks taken in the 2019 NFL Draft, but according to one recently released stat, the Cleveland Browns found a major steal in their newest member of the secondary.

Taking to Twitter earlier today, Pro Football Focus shared a stat about Williams that should make any Browns fan happy. According to the analytical company, Williams allowed a completion on just 40.3% of the passes thrown his way last year, which put him eighth amongst qualifying cornerbacks.

While Williams came into the 2019 NFL Draft as one of the more highly touted defensive players, he and a number of other standouts had to wait until the second round and beyond before teams began looking at him. For Williams, he had to watch as six other cornerbacks were taken ahead of him, but thankfully didn’t slide too far, as the Browns selected the LSU defensive back with the 46th overall pick.

While Williams may not have been taken in the first round, he did end up in a great spot. Not only have the Browns gone from one of the laughingstocks of the league into a legitimate team on the rise, they’ve also managed to do so in just one year.

With an extremely effective defensive group and an offense led by Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr., the Browns have suddenly become a trendy pick to make the playoffs, and even compete for a Super Bowl. For Williams, it’ll be a great place to begin his NFL career, and if his college skills translate to the NFL, he’ll have a long career ahead of him.
