Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield has been everything that you would expect from the first overall pick. Mayfield has been brilliant in many instances while still making some rookie mistakes. Nonetheless, he looks ahead of schedule in terms of performance for this season.

Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, states, “In the six games Mayfield played with Jackson as his head coach and Haley calling the plays, Mayfield completed 58.3 percent of his passes, averaged 6.6 yards per pass, totaled eight touchdowns and six interceptions, and had a 78.9 passer rating.”

Smith added, ” In the three games Mayfield has played since Jackson and Haley were fired, Mayfield completed 73.9 percent of his passes, averaged 8.8 yards per pass, totaled nine touchdowns and one interception, and has a 129.5 passer rating.”

Mayfield possesses strong leadership and has proven it over the course of the season. He has not only led the Browns to their first win in over a season back in Week 3 over the New York Jets but has now guided the Browns to three more wins since that victory. These wins were not against average teams, but rather fairly difficult ones in the Atlanta Falcons and the Baltimore Ravens.

Mayfield looks incredibly comfortable in an extremely talented and young Cleveland offense and he is undoubtedly the leader the Browns have been longing for. The Browns looked rejuvenated after their bye week against the Bengals, handily beating their division rival 35-20. Mayfield will look to continue his strong play against the Houston Texans next Sunday.
