The Cleveland Browns announced that running back Kareem Hunt was cleared to participate in practice starting today, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Hunt can return to game action in Week 10 when the Browns face the Buffalo Bills.

A combination of factors has kept Hunt on the sidelines so far during his time with the Browns. He was suspended for eight games by the NFL for off-field incidents that occurred while he was still signed to the Kansas City Chiefs. He also had to recover from a sports hernia surgery that he underwent in the offseason.

The running back position for the Browns has been shouldered by the impressive play of Nick Chubb this season. He has managed to produce an impressive 607 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns on just 114 rushes, translating to an average of 101.2 rushing yards per game and 5.3 yards per carry.

There has been more involvement from Chubb in the receiving game so far this season as well. He has already matched his 2018 season total for receptions (20) while also producing 128 receiving yards with a 76.9 percent catch rate. His versatility and overall impact have played an important role in the Browns' offensive attack this season.

It is unknown what the Browns have planned in regards to a potential role for Hunt after his return given how effective Chubb has been. Having two talented options in the backfield is never a bad thing, it will just be up to head coach Freddie Kitchens to find a way to not take too much away from Chubb.
