The Cleveland Browns made headlines with the acquisition of former New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. this offseason. Now comes the challenge of getting their new star up to speed in the new offense.

Head coach Freddie Kitchens admitted he would have liked for Beckham to arrive much earlier than he did. According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, he does not think learning the playbook will be too much of an issue:

“I’ve always been a pretty smart guy as far as when it comes to the playbook. So it won’t be anything to pick up — it won’t be too hard to pick up,” Beckham said.

It is encouraging to see that Beckham does not seem fazed with the challenge of learning a whole new scheme on offense. There is no question that he will play an integral part in their approach moving forward. As a result, there could be much for him to learn in a short span of time.

No team has generated more hype than the Browns have with their influx of talent in recent years. Pair that with their resurgence down the stretch of the 2018 campaign and expectations are now higher than ever in Cleveland. Beckham and quarterback Baker Mayfield will be tasked with taking this offense to the next level in 2019.

It is safe to say that Beckham will serve as the No. 1 wideout in the passing game. Meanwhile, his good friend and teammate Jarvis Landry will play a complementary role opposite of him. There should be no shortage of help for Beckham when it comes to learning the playbook this offseason.
