Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Steve Wilks still thinks that Freddie Kitchens is the right coach to lead the team forward. Wilks was fired after one season with the Arizona Cardinals, and he hopes that Kitchens gets more of a chance than he did in Arizona.

“It takes time to build a culture, it takes time to implement your system and get guys on the same page,” Wilks said, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “Sometimes the business is what it is, but without a doubt I think Freddie definitely is the guy for this job. In what he’s been able to do in a short period of time, you can see the progress in the things that we’re doing as far as moving forward. We’ve got a lot of guys hurt. We’re not making any excuses, but it has been the case. But the guys continue to play hard and find a way to win.”

This is an interesting quote and it's good to see a defensive coordinator stick up for Kitchens, but who knows how truthful he is being with this answer. Wilks knows if a head coaching change happens it could also mean his job is in jeopardy, which could be why he is standing behind his head coach.

It's still unclear if the Browns plan on keeping Kitchens for another year. There are some who believe he can't save his job, and there are others who believe no matter what happens with their game on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals he will be back for another year.
