The Cleveland Browns have much of their attention fixated toward their quarterback situation this offseason after going 0-16 in 2017.

Things became quite heated in Monday's practice after rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield, leading to bickering back and forth between offensive coordinator Todd Haley and defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. Per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com:

Haley yelled at the defense, “Don't touch the [expletive] quarterback in practice! Good teams don't do it!”

Williams responded from the sideline, loud enough for most in the crowd to hear, “somebody's gotta f-ing block 'em.”

It is taboo in practice for a defensive player to hit any quarterback due to the chances of an injury occurring. This has drawn the reasonable reaction from Haley to protect his players in order to avoid an unnecessary injury. However, Williams liked the aggressive nature of his players that put them in the position to make a tackle on the play.

While most teams want to avoid such situations at all costs, it does show the level of intensity that both coaches have on the practice field. The Browns have had the stigma of a losing culture after dropping 31 out of her last 32 games in the regular season. Cleveland is hoping to change that this upcoming campaign with moves like the addition of Haley to finally push the franchise forward.

Nonetheless, this moment will likely be highlighted at some point in HBO's “Hard Knocks” series that is following the team in training camp and the preseason. It should make for great TV.
