Tyrod Taylor entered the 2018 NFL season as the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. He had full support from head coach Hue Jackson after being acquired from the Buffalo Bills in the offseason. Now, he is the backup behind rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield, and there isn't much of a chance that he starts again for the Browns this season barring an injury.

Despite getting benched, Taylor is not unhappy with his current role. According to a report from Pro Football Talk, Taylor is not upset with backing up Mayfield.

Taylor opened up about his current thought process in an interview with ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi.

“Right now, I’m focusing on getting healthy and continue to keep getting better and what I can do for the team, and that’ll do it.”

Mayfield is the new face of the Browns, and quite frankly, the entire city of Cleveland from a sports perspective. He led the Browns to a huge win and came close to knocking off the Oakland Raiders last week. The sky is the limit for the young quarterback moving forward.

In the three games that he played with the Browns, Taylor completed just 48.8 percent of his pass attempts for 462 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown.

Cleveland may have their starting quarterback of the future, but they can always use a veteran voice behind him. Taylor may not be a superstar, but he is more than capable of mentoring Mayfield. That will be extremely valuable as the No. 1 overall pick continues to improve and work his way through his first NFL season.

Expect to see Mayfield remain the starter throughout the remainder of the season. Taylor may not be a member of the Browns next season, but he is still focused on being the best teammate he can be.
