The Cleveland Browns have continued to push forward the past few weeks behind the promising play of rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Ahead of Week 16 action against the Browns, Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph praised Mayfield highly for his overall promising play on the field along with his strong personality, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

“I knew that he had the arm talent to do it and the football IQ,” Joseph said. “After the first install, he could’ve taught the offense. He was that good with the offense. His personality, it’s infectious. His energy and his confidence, you can feel it. I wasn’t sure he was going to be No. 1, but I knew he was going to be a first-round pick for sure.”

Mayfield has picked it up over the last several weeks having won three out of the Browns' last four games. During this stretch, he has thrown for 1,109 yards with nine touchdown passes to three interceptions while posting three games without an interception.

In fact, in the five games since the firing of both head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley, he has posted more than 200 yards in each contest along with throwing multiple touchdown passes three times.

He has quickly found comfort in the starting role that he has continued to show improvement with the more playing time that he gets under his belt as the season moves along. There have been bumps along the way that have come to be expected given that it is his first season in the league, but he has put together some promising performances.

The last three games of the season will be a chance for him to build on his solid first NFL campaign.
