The Cleveland Browns are in the unique position of potentially adding the next face of the franchise in this year's draft in one of the top quarterback prospects . The organization has heightened their efforts over the last several days in assessing the crop of talent at the position with the likes of Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, Josh Rosen, Baker Mayfield, and Lamar Jackson.

Cleveland has spoken to and worked out each of the top prospects under center to get a better understanding of the players both on and off the field. With the 2018 NFL Draft now just under a month away, it appears that the Browns have narrowed down their choice for the first overall pick.

Through much of the process, Sam Darnold has been perceived as being the top choice in this year's draft, and that notion was further hammered down with his strong showing at USC's Pro Day this past week. He is viewed by many as a safe selection given that he has shown he can make all of the throws necessary at the next level and has the the physical tools to succeed.. The concerns about his decision-making, primarily with unforced turnovers and ball security, are viewed as areas he can improve on in the NFL.

Meanwhile, Allen has quickly moved up the board as one of the top quarterback prospects available. He has been highly touted for his strong arm and for possessing the prototypical size at the position, standing at 6-foot-5 and 233 pounds. However, there are some questions about his accuracy and footwork, which have both been deemed areas in need of improvement if he's to succeed at the next level.

Eventually, the Browns will have to decide which quarterback best fits their future plans at the position. Each possesses a huge amount of potential to becoming their franchise cornerstone. Cleveland still has time on their side to make a decision.

The only clear thing at this moment is that Cleveland has honed in on bringing aboard their quarterback of the future with the first overall pick. More clarity on this front should come over the weeks leading up to the draft.
