In the weeks leading up to the 2018 NFL Draft, there has been much uncertainty around what the Cleveland Browns will do with the first overall pick. There has been the expectation that they would take a quarterback, but the addition of Tyrod Taylor has shifted that notion a bit.

With that in mind, the Browns have been long rumored to have some significant interest in making former USC quarterback Sam Darnold the first player off the board in late April. More fuel has been poured on that fire with ESPN's Jordan Zirm reporting that the organization will have their entire front office over to watch Darnold's Pro Day in person this upcoming week.

Although this doesn't necessarily mean that the Browns are set on taking Darnold as the No.1 overall pick, it does signal that the team has plenty of interest in him. The 20-year-old is widely viewed as being the top available quarterback from this year's crop heading into the draft. In the last two years with USC, Darnold has shown plenty of promise behind his strong arm while making accurate throws that will be required at the next level. He has also shown much poise in the pocket when under pressure along with a strong competitive nature.

There have been questions about his decision making at times and his ball security, but those two traits are viewed as being fixable aspects of his game. The addition of Taylor this offseason is likely in place so that he will not have to be thrown directly into the fire as the starter out of the gate to begin his career if he is indeed taken by the Browns with the first overall pick.

Ultimately, his performance in his Pro Day that is just a few days away should only further cement that he should likely be the top selection in the draft next month.
