The Cleveland Browns are almost certain to select a quarterback with the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. But with just two weeks left until the draft, the Browns apparently still haven’t decided which of their top two options – Sam Darnold or Josh Allen – to take.

“My understanding, and I’ve heard this from multiple people: Cleveland has not made a final call,” Albert Breer of The MMQB reports. “The team’s scouts returned from the road Tuesday, started draft meetings Wednesday, and there’s still discussion to be had. One person who knows GM John Dorsey well explained it like this: ‘I know John likes (Sam) Darnold, and I know he likes Allen’s talent. It’ll come down to this: Who do they trust most?’”

Allen has reportedly gained a lot of steam over the last couple of weeks within the Browns and could potentially be the frontrunner come draft night. Cleveland’s growing interest in him has been such that teams directly below them are at least preparing for the possibility that the Browns pass on Darnold.

While Allen has all the physical gifts to become a star in the league, his lack of accuracy during college is a glaring flaw. But despite this major concern, Cleveland still appears willing to consider Allen over a relatively safer pick in Darnold.

The Browns still have a good amount of time left to decide which of the two quarterbacks to take. There could very well be a few more twists and turns in their deliberations before they actually have to make the franchise-altering decision come draft night.
