The Cleveland Browns' offense has received ample hype throughout the offseason, after the organization acquired both Kareem Hunt and Odell Beckham Jr. Yet, that's not the only side of the ball which has been retooled. The defense, with Oliver Vernon, Sheldon Richardson, and Greedy Williams, appears on paper to be a stout unit.

Greedy Williams stands out as a future building block. He is making noise at training camp.

Williams caught an interception during training drills on Monday, snagging a Baker Mayfield overthrow to receiver Derrick Willies.

Williams is expected to be the No. 2 corner in Cleveland alongside rookie Pro Bowler Denzel Ward. Drafted at pick No. 46, many saw Williams as a first-round cornerback, potentially the best in the 2019 NFL Draft crop.

At LSU, he tallied eight interceptions, 19 pass deflections, and 49 total tackles in two seasons of play. At 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, he possesses NFL-ready height for the position. At the combine, he showed he has the speed, running a 4.37-second 40-yard-dash.

Williams and Ward make an exciting outside cornerback tandem. Both were considered blue-chip prospects in the last two drafts; their potential is sky-high. What defensive coordinator Steve Wilks likes most about the two: their different skill sets that will be used against different players. As Wilks said, via Cleveland.com's Dan Labbe,

I think it’s so important that you’re not always looking, OK, we’re going to take away the best receiver. Sometimes it’s based off the size, quickness and how you want to match guys up, so I like the matchup that we have right now with Greedy and Denzel.

With Williams already making highlights as a rookie against Baker Mayfield, the Browns' cornerback position should be noted by the rest of the AFC North.
