Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon played pretty well in his first game back following a lengthy suspension. However, that might not be the biggest story to emerge from the Gordon narrative.

Instead, as it has been for a few months now, it is with how candid Josh Gordon has been with his issues with drugs and abuse.

On Sunday, after the game, it was no different, as the Browns receiver discussed how playing football is his escape from many concerns.

“I feel free when I’m out there,” Gordon said, via Cleveland.com. “My business is out there, people know what I’m about and that’s a great feeling.”

Gordon admitted to feeling fatigued by the fourth quarter. Obviously, that makes a ton of sense since he isn't exactly in game shape yet.

Cleveland coach Hue Jackson felt as though, despite the rust, Gordon played well.

“He made some plays,” said Jackson. “It was his first game back and it looked like he belonged. He has some rust that he needs to knock off, but I thought he competed.”

“This is just a start for Josh,” said Jackson, who called the pass to Gordon on the first play to get things rolling. “It's practice time, it's time on task, time with the quarterbacks, time within the system and keep going from there.”

Most of Gordon's issues are self-induced, but it is hard to do anything other than root for him at this point.
