The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were given a surprise scare by the lowly New York Giants in Week 8 proceedings. Bucs head coach Bruce Arians gave his take regarding Giants quarterback Daniel Jones' performance after Tampa Bay's 25-23 win on Sunday, as per NY Daily News Sports‘ Pat Leonard:

Jones had trouble with the accuracy of his passes and committed unnecessary turnovers all throughout the contest. The Bucs defense did its part to limit the sophomore playmaker under center where he produced 256 passing yards on 25/41 passing attempts with two touchdown scores.

He was sacked thrice and intercepted twice including a crucial pick that set up a 66-yard touchdown drive capped off by Bucs receiver Mike Evans. Jones also failed to connect on open passes to Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton which resulted in him only having a 56-yard receiving output on five touches in the loss.

Despite the room for improvement, the Giants were still able to force their counterparts to hold their breath until the dying seconds of the game. A pass interference call on the end zone was reverted which could've tied the match in crunch time; the Giants went on to lose 25-23. Their valiant effort against a powerhouse like the Buccaneers should be a confidence booster for the young squad for the remainder of the season.

The loss pulled back Big Blue to a 1-6 record for the cellar-dwelling spot in the struggling NFC East division while the Buccaneers improved to a 5-2 record for second place in the NFC South.

Jones and the rest of the Giants will aim to get back on the right track as they face the Washington Football Team come Week 9.
