Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians was openly critical of quarterback Tom Brady's performance in their opening game loss against the New Orleans Saints in Week 1. The tides seemed to have shifted after his squad closed out the Carolina Panthers on a 31-17 victory.

Arians was impressed as he watched Brady lead the team to their first win of the season in Week 2 proceedings.

“I think he has a pretty good history of that,” Arians said of following up on a loss, via Jenna Laine of ESPN.com. “This game should never have got as close as it did. We let ’em back in. But I thought he played outstanding. His leadership on the sideline was great, and he put us in the right play [on] a number of different audibles. He played really, really well.”

The three-time NFL MVP steered the offense for Tampa Bay and accounted for a total of 217 passing yards on 23-of-35 passes completed along with a touchdown pass and an interception. Running back Leonard Fournette also bounced back with a big performance, tallying 103 rushing yards on 12 touches and two scored touchdowns for the team. With wideout Chris Godwin sidelined, Brady relied on the returning Mike Evans who himself notched 104 yards and a touchdown of his own.

Despite having a slow start to the season, Arians remained optimistic and believes that the best is yet to come for the entire Buccaneers.

“It’s going to take time, and with having no preseason and all those practices we missed, we’re just growing day by day with Tom, the receivers and the entire offense,” he said. “I think we’ll just get better and better. We’re nowhere near — I think — what we are in September, what I think we’ll be in November.”

The entire team believes that they will be playing on a higher level once everyone is on board and in full health. Tampa Bay will look forward to carrying over their impressive performance in their next game against the depleted Denver Broncos in Week 3.
