Bryce Harper is a 29-year-old right fielder for the Philadelphia Phillies. He was drafted first overall by the Washington Nationals in the 2010 MLB draft. Harper later went on to play in D.C. for six years. In 2019, he signed a groundbreaking 13-year contract with his current team. All throughout his extensive baseball career dating back to when Sports Illustrated dubbed him as “Baseball's LeBron,” it was Kayla Harper who has been by his side.

Kayla Harper, born Kayla Varner, was born on November 4, 1992 in Henderson, Nevada to Sean and Liz Varner. She grew up in Mormon faith along with her two siblings, Markus and McKay.

Varner herself was an accomplished athlete. In fact, she was once a soccer player for Green Valley High School, where she served as the team captain for three years. She was awarded Nevada High School Player of the Year twice, and also received the 2011 NSCAA Senior Excellence Award.

She later enrolled at Brigham Young University under interior design, but transferred to Ohio State University and pursued a degree in communications. She graduated shortly after in 2015.

The 29-year-old OSU alum lives relatively out of the public eye, though she's fairly active on Instagram. She boasts 121,000 followers, but is far from being an influencer. Often, the proud mother of two just posts fun pictures with her friends and family, along with her daily life experiences.

How did she and her baseball star husband meet? Well, Heavy reported that the couple had been together since high school, at around 2010. After several years of dating, they got engaged in 2014. Fans were heartbroken, however, upon learning of their supposed breakup in 2015. The Philly star had deleted photos of the two of them on Instagram.

Fortunately, it seemed like resolved their troubles, as they got back together on July 2016. They married five months later at the San Diego Mormon Temple. Both Harper and Varner are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Of the day of the wedding, Varner told The Knot News that it was raining quite heavily.

“By pour, I mean it rained for a few days straight at historic levels. With no break in the weather, we chose to embrace Mother Nature instead. By the end of the first look and ceremony portraits, the train on my dress was muddy and sooted.”

Although it seemed like unfortunate timing, the rain was apparently a sign of an outpouring of blessings throughout their marriage. On August 22, 2019, the couple's son was born. Harper was on paternity leave as he attended to his firstborn Krew Aron.

Their second child, a daughter named Brooklyn Elizabeth, was born on November 2020. All of us, of course, can recall the horrors of 2020, and the pandemic certainly didn't make it any easier for Varner. It was extra difficult as Brooklyn Elizabeth was originally due December, but Varner in fact needed to be induced a few weeks early.Fortunately, she delivered the baby safely. In an Instagram post, the proud mother of two thanked her own mother, who is a labor and delivery nurse at the hospital she delivered in.

“She has been our go-to for every little question or concern during both my pregnancies. She was especially comforting when I found out I would need to be induced a few weeks early this time around. She is always a solid voice of reason and always puts everyone’s needs before her own. I’m thankful for her talents and knowledge as a nurse. I hope that Brooklyn and I are as close as my mom and I are one day. Love you momma!”
