The Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended the season in heartbreaking fashion with Jameis Winston throwing a pick-6 in overtime versus the Atlanta Falcons. Right after the game, Bruce Arians admitted there is both “good” and “outright terrible” when evaluating Winston:

When watching Jameis Winston, he is the ultimate mix of good and bad at the quarterback position. The former No. 1 overall pick finished this Buccaneers season with a career-high 5,109 passing yards and a career-high 33 passing touchdowns.

Of course, that is the good side of Winston that warranted being a No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. But on the other side of things, he also threw 30 interceptions in his fifth season in the NFL.

As a matter of fact, Winston became the first quarterback in NFL history to toss 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in the same season. That achievement certainly won't help Winston in contract discussions with Tampa Bay in the upcoming offseason.

Before last season, the Buccaneers decided to pick up Winston's fifth-year option for the 2019 season. The franchise hired Bruce Arians in hopes he could reel in Winston and correct his decision-making.

But when you've been in the NFL for five years, it's hard to believe he can eliminate the terrible decisions. Tampa Bay will have to make a franchise-altering decision on whether or not to re-sign Winston or allow him to walk in free agency.

In the event that they don't extend a long-term offer to him, the Buccaneers could place the franchise or transition tag on Winston. Ultimately, it remains to be seen if the Buccaneers even see potential with Jameis Winston as their starter moving forward.
