This spring, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers probably drew the most attention due to a pair of offseason moves: Signing future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady and trading for his now-unretired favorite tight end, Rob Gronkowski.

According to second-year head coach Bruce Arians, the Buccaneers will focus its offensive attack on tight end position, possibly delivering three tight-end sets, too (via The Athletic's Greg Auman).

Part of the splashy Gronkowski trade was adding to the tight end depth — or, as some people saw it, preparing to move on from third-year tight end OJ Howard. Howard was (and has) not been moved by Tampa Bay, however, and the team instead appeared to move in the direction of beefing up at the tight end position to award Brady and Arians the preferred style of attack on offense.

Howard appeared in 14 games for the Buccaneers during the lackluster 2019 season, recording 34 catches for 459 receiving yards and scoring one touchdown. In his first two professional seasons, Howard scored 11 touchdowns combined.

Gronkowski, once one of the best tight ends in the league — if not the best — retired at the conclusion of the 2018 NFL season, advocating for the league to relax bans and restrictions on cannabis as a means to help recovery in athletes. After trying out professional wrestling for a bit, Gronkowski announced his return to the sport that made him a three-time champion, with the New England Patriots trading him to link up with Brady in “Tompa Bay” for a fourth-round draft pick.

Arians is getting his wish when it comes to the offensive personnel.
