The Tampa Bay Buccaneers brought back Ndamukong Suh on Wednesday, re-signing the defensive lineman on a one-year, $8 million deal.

Suh initially joined the Buccaneers last spring and had a solid 2019 campaign, playing in every game and registering 41 tackles, 2.5 sacks, four fumble recoveries, four passes defended, and a couple of defensive touchdowns.

His production was a far cry from his prime years with the Detroit Lions, but he still represented a critical part of Tampa Bay's defense, and head coach Bruce Arians is happy to have him back in the fold for 2020:

“I wanted the entire defense, if we could, to stay together,” Arians said, according to Greg Auman of The Athletic. “Suh was a big, big part of it, obviously.”

Suh is just the latest defensive player the Bucs ensured would be around for next season.

Before inking Suh to a new contract, they franchise tagged linebacker Shaquil Barrett and signed defensive lineman Jason Pierre-Paul to an extension.

Of course, the highlight of the Buccaneers offseason thus far was signing legendary quarterback Tom Brady to a two-year deal last week, but keeping the defense together is also imperative.

Suh spent the first five years of his NFL career with the Lions, making four Pro Bowls and earning three First-Team All-Pro selections. He then parlayed his success in Detroit into a massive six-year, $114 million contract with the Miami Dolphins in 2015. However, Suh was a massive disappointment in South Beach, so much so that the Dolphins cut him three years into his deal.

The 33-year-old joined the Los Angeles Rams for one season in 2018 before linking up with Tampa Bay last May.
