One wonders what Bill Belichick thinks of this: Bruce Arians knows that the only way for Tom Brady to be successful is to let him do Brady things. This tandem has worked wonders so far for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they're on their way to just their fourth NFC Championship Game in franchise history.

Arians, who's on his second year as the head tactician for the Bucs, has enjoyed the services of a six-time Super Bowl champion in Tom Brady for the first time this season and he's looking to capitalize on Brady's experience and wisdom by allowing him to do his thing. Which, according to the 68-year-old head coach, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots didn't allow him to.

“New England didn't allow him to coach. I allow him to coach. I just sit back sometimes and watch,” Arians said about Tom Brady (via SportsCenter).

For what it's worth, Tom Brady and his former head coach did end up winning a total of six Super Bowls in twenty seasons in New England so Belichick must've done something right.

In his 21st season, Tom Brady has shown no signs of aging and Arians has put him on quite a long leash, if at all. So far, this strategy has resulted in thirteen wins this season including two huge road victories against the Washington Football Team and the New Orleans Saints in the first two rounds of the 2021 playoffs.

Tom Brady, as expected, has been terrific in his debut-stint for Arians and the Bucs. The 43-year-old finished the regular season with 40 TDs – his most since his first MVP season in 2007. Brady also finished with his best QB rating (102.2) in three seasons.

Arians is hoping that Brady continues to do Tom Brady things against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday to help them book a trip to Super Bowl LV.
