There's been a lot of hype surrounding Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Chris Godwin this offseason, and new Bucs coach Bruce Arians isn't doing anything to tamp it down. Arians appeared on the Jim Rome Show recently, and fanned the already raging flames, per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

Arians spoke highly of the Penn State product and indicated he's going to get plenty of opportunities.

“Oh, man, he should fit perfectly in what we’re doing because he’s a physical guy, a big guy,” Arians said. “We can use him in the slot, we can use him out wide. He’ll never come off the field and he’s going to get single coverage because they’re never going to let Mike Evans be over there one-on-one, for sure.”

Godwin was a star at Penn State and has looked really good in limited action in the pros, he just hasn't gotten consistent targets since he's been buried behind Evans and DeSean Jackson. Jackson is gone now, traded to the Eagles, creating a huge opening for Godwin.

Godwin has usually shined when he's been given a chance, putting up three 100-yard games last season. He ended up finishing with 842 yards and seven touchdowns despite making only five starts. Arians makes a good point that the attention Evans commands from defenses should free things up for the third-year pro.

Arians is an offensive guru, and he should be able to get the best out of quarterback Jameis Winston. With weapons like Evans and Godwin at his disposal, this Buccaneers offense has the potential to be scary good in 2019.
