The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are doing what they can to get as healthy as possible for the 2019 NFL season. Fortunately, it appears they may have dodged a bullet with wide receiver Chris Godwin.

Godwin was forced to leave the field after suffering an apparent injury while running a route. Luckily, he returned to practice:

Bucs fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing Godwin was able to resume practice. The prospect of him suffering an injury at this point in the preseason would have dealt a crucial blow to the receiving corps heading into the 2019 NFL season.

Tampa Bay experienced some turnover with this group following the departure of wide receivers DeSean Jackson and Adam Humphries in the offseason. As a result, they are hoping Godwin can step up and serve as the No. 2 option alongside star wide receiver Mike Evans in the passing game.

There is certainly good reason for the Bucs to be optimistic about Godwin's potential. The third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft enjoyed a breakout year after finishing the 2018 campaign with 59 receptions for 842 yards and seven touchdowns. His numbers should continue to increase now that he is poised to take on a larger workload.

Godwin gave an early glimpse of his rapport with quarterback Jameis Winston by hauling in two receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown during their loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the preseason opener.
