The Tampa Bay Buccaneers revamped their passing game with the addition of quarterback Tom Brady in free agency. Although the restrictions placed by the league in response to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) have prevented him from getting acquainted with his new teammates, wide receiver Chris Godwin is confident that he has done his homework.

With no shortage of firepower on offense, Tampa Bay emerged as a clear frontrunner to land his services. Godwin is admittedly anxious to get to work with his new quarterback, via the team's official Instagram:

“It's not much conversation about what each other is like as a player,” Godwin said. “I think that Tom is a really smart guy and from what I can tell, I'd imagine he's watched some film on us as a team so he probably has a pretty good feel for the type of person I am or the type of player I am. The few conversations we've had have literally just been trying to get to know each other on a little bit on a personal basis and get a little bit of familiarity so that meeting in person it's not like we're meeting for the first time and now we're trying to play catch up.”

Godwin's eagerness is certainly understandable given the expectations that Brady is bringing with him following an illustrious career with the New England Patriots. The ongoing pandemic has stalled their chances of developing their on-field rapport. However, there is still good reason to be optimistic.

After all, Brady joins a group that is led by their pair of Pro Bowl wideouts in Godwin and Mike Evans. As the NFL's new, premier 1-2 punch on the outside, this is already more talent at his disposal than what he was working with in New England as of late.

As a result, expectations are now as high as ever for the Bucs heading into the 2020 NFL season. Fortunately, Godwin appears to be embracing the notion that they are ready to kick things up a notch.
