The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are becoming extremely thin at wide receiver, and the worst-case scenario has come into fruition with the latest news. Ahead of Saturday's game, Chris Godwin has been ruled out in Week 16 versus the Houston Texans, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine.

During last week's contest versus the Detroit Lions, Godwin suffered a hamstring injury that caused him to miss the rest of the game. The third-year wide receiver had to be carted off of the field, which is usually a sign that an injury is pretty severe.

Following the win over the Lions, Bruce Arians seemed to understand that Godwin could miss Week 16. Furthermore, there's a decent chance the Buccaneers prevent him from playing in Week 17 as well since they aren't in the playoff race.

Before the injury, Godwin had recorded a career-high 86 receptions for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns. The Penn State product led all wide receivers on the Buccaneers in receptions, yards, and touchdowns.

Sadly, Godwin's breakout season could be coming to an abrupt halt due to this hamstring ailment. At the least, Godwin was rewarded for his remarkable numbers by being named to the first Pro Bowl of his career.

Besides Godwin, Tampa Bay is also dealing with a hamstring injury to Mike Evans. As a matter of fact, the Buccaneers placed Evans on injured reserve, effectively ending his season.

As a result, Tampa Bay will have to rely upon Breshad Perriman, Cameron Brate, and O.J. Howard to help Jameis Winston in the passing attack. In addition, we could see Ronald Jones and Peyton Barber catch more passes out of the backfield.
