Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin had a career year in 2019, but he feels the best is yet to come.

Godwin posted an Instagram video last week containing highlights from his 2019 campaign with the Buccaneers, but the start of the clip was marked by a voiceover where Godwin said he can be “so much better.”

The Buccaneers star was one of the best receivers in football last year.

Godwin ranked third in receiving yards (1,333) fourth in receiving touchdowns (nine) and second in receiving yards per game (95.2) while posting a 71.2 catch percentage. The former third-round pick had shown flashes of potential in 2018, but he thrived in head coach Bruce Arians' offensive system during his first year as a full-time starter.

Of course, the situation in Tampa Bay has changed quite drastically in recent weeks.

The Bucs replaced former starter Jameis Winston–who threw a league-high 30 interceptions in 2019–with Tom Brady, marking a definitive move for a franchise hoping to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2007.

Brady had one of his least productive seasons in 2019 especially in terms of total quarterback rating, but he also had to play behind a defensive line while throwing to an underwhelming receiving corps.

In fact, this Bucs group of pass-catchers might be one of the best Brady has ever had. Godwin and Mike Evans were both Pro Bowlers and are elite deep threats. Tight ends Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard have tons of potential as well.

Should the Bucs improve the offensive line and find some semblance of a running game, they could be one of the most explosive air-raid teams in football.

That would be welcome news for Godwin, who is eager to make strides again in 2020.
