The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Devin White with the fifth overall pick just last month but he isn't wasting any time to take over a leadership role with the team. Head coach Bruce Arians was impressed with White heading into the draft but after seeing him on the field he is even more excited.

The team is now in the OTA phase of the offseason training and Arians watched as White took total control of the defense.

“Devin’s not shy. That’s what we like about him,” Arians said, via Jenna Laine of ESPN.com. “He jumped out, [learned] the defense quickly for today’s installation and wasn’t bashful about calling the defense and getting everybody lined up.”

Arians wasn't the only guy impressed with what he saw out of White. Linebacker Lavonte David was impressed with just how much command White had over the defense.

“Something about those LSU guys,” David said via the Bucs team website. “All of them bring a certain type of energy, certain type of swagger and we’re glad to have him here. He is happy to be here. He’s more than ready to step in and contribute right away. The first day, he’s flying around and caught an interception on the second play of practice, so that’s a big positive sign. He’s happy to be here and the first day, he is talking. For a rookie to come in and be talking like that, it’s really amazing to see, so the sky is the limit for him most definitely.”

If Devin White can contribute right away for the team, that is going to be a key for a defense that is looking for a star to lead them.
