The NFL has punished Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Devin White for unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct during their Week 8 game against the New Orleans Saints. To recall, it was White who tackled Saints QB Jameis Winston that led to his season-ending ACL injury.

According to reports, the NFL has fined White $15,450 for unnecessary roughness. Aside from the horse-collar tackle on Winston, he was also penalized for roughing Trevor Siemian, who replaced Winston after his injury.

Moreover, the Buccaneers LB was slapped with a $10,300 fine for his unsportsmanlike conduct. The incident occurred when he taunted Saints running back Mark Ingram after the end of a run.

While the NFL has acted on the issue, it certainly won't make Saints fans happy. After all, they lost their quarterback in what is expected to be a big season for them. They did win against the Buccaneers to improve to 5-2, but the price they had to pay was certainly not what they envisioned heading to the contest.

The Saints have already placed Jameis Winston on IR. The timetable for the return of the quarterback is still unknown, but it is worth noting that a torn ACL usually takes six to eight months of recovery.

As for Devin White and the Buccaneers, they'll be moving on from the issue as they focus on keeping their hold of the top spot in the NFC South.
