Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has already fully immersed himself in the Carolina Panthers organization so it seems.

Not only did the Buccaneers elect to part ways with McCoy earlier this offseason, but the NFC South franchise then promptly signed his replacement in former Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

Adding to the intrigue of the whole situation, the Buccaneers also handed Suh No. 93, the number that McCoy wore for the entirety of his lengthy stint in Tampa Bay.

McCoy doesn't seem to care too much, though, as the Panthers newcomer is just happy to be in Carolina nowadays.

Although the Buccaneers were unwilling to pay the seasoned defensive lineman for the 2019-20 campaign, the Panthers don't appear to have a problem with McCoy coming aboard.

“It’s great to have Gerald on our side now,” Panthers general manager Marty Hurney recently said of the newly-inked one-year deal, via the team's official website. “We are very familiar with his skill set after facing him over the years and know that he not only brings a wealth of talent as a player but is also a tremendous person. We are extremely happy to have Gerald as a part of the Panthers organization.”

Of course, the Panthers and Buccaneers both play in the NFC South division, which means that the two rivals will be forced to battle it out not once, but twice come 2019-20.

It wouldn't be surprising to see McCoy take it up a notch against his old team, either.
