It has been a strange offseason for Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Gerald McCoy.

While he is under contract with the Buccaneers through 2021, it doesn't seem like Tampa Bay wants him around very much. New head coach Bruce Arians has questioned his desire, and defensive coordinator Todd Bowles has dodged questions about whether or not he wants McCoy on his defense.

There have been some trade rumors surrounding McCoy, but nothing has ever really materialized, so, as of right now, he is still a Buccaneer. But you have to wonder how much longer that will actually be the case.

McCoy, who skipped the first two phases of voluntary offseason workouts, was also absent from the Bucs' first practice of organized team activities on Tuesday, according to Rick Stroud of The Tampa Bay Times.

Now, to clarify, the first practice is voluntary, so it's entirely possible that McCoy will show up for the mandatory stuff, but based on how everything has gone down throughout the offseason, it wouldn't be the least bit surprising to see the 31-year-old out of action for a while.

McCoy is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played 14 games and registered 28 tackles and six sacks. The Oklahoma City native, who played his collegiate football at the University of Oklahoma, was originally selected by the Buccaneers with the third overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft. He made six consecutive Pro Bowl appearances between 2012 and 2017, including a First-Team All-Pro selection back in 2013 when he racked up 50 tackles, 9.5 sacks and a fumble recovery.
