Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston has undoubtedly put up gaudy passing numbers during the 2019 year, a fact which was backed up during Sunday's game versus the Atlanta Falcons in which he became the eighth passer in league history to reach the 5,000-yard plateau through the air.

Winston entered Sunday's game leading the league in both passing yards (4,908) and pass attempts (602), but also interceptions (28). His offensive production has been prolific, while also proving detrimental at key moments.

With his inclusion on the list of some of the game's greatest passers, Winston joins Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Patrick Mahomes, Dan Marino and Matthew Stafford in having slung the pigskin in excess of 5,000 yards in a single campaign. At age 25, only the trio of Marino, Mahomes and Stafford joined the list at a younger age than Winston.

Even with passing history being made under center, Winston's future in Tampa Bay appears anything but certain. Entering Sunday, he had a career 28-41 record as the team's starting quarterback and has not finished above .500 since the 2016 year. He is slated to become a free agent after the season, with the organization having exercised its fifth-year option on him prior to '19.

The Buccaneers will have to determine whether Winston's passing prowess outweighs the pitfalls that are likely to come up with paying up for a quarterback that is for all intents and purposes coming off a career year. If Sunday is Winston's last game as a Buccaneer, he made history for the franchise that selected him first overall in 2015.
