The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been without third-year quarterback Jameis Winston for the last several weeks due to a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder.

However, it appears that Winston is set to be cleared to make his return to the practice field on Wednesday, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter said that Winston had an MRI and did rehab work on his right shoulder Monday and that doctors will clear him to return to football activities on Wednesday as long as he doesn’t experience soreness related to his rehab activities. Koetter said Winston would get full reps if he is indeed cleared, which suggests that he’ll be starting in Green Bay next Sunday.

Winston has yet to throw a football since re-injuring his shoulder on Nov. 5 against the New Orleans Saints. He has been steadily recovering from the ailment that also seen him receive a platelet-rich plasma injection two weeks ago to help him heal quicker.

He had originally suffered the injury back in Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals after taking a hit from Chandler Jones. In his absence, the Buccaneers have rolled with veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who holds a 2-2 record in four games as the starter.

It may not be a clear path for Winston getting back into the starting lineup, as he's still under investigation by the league for allegedly groping an Uber driver back in March 2016.

The Buccaneers have a tough matchup in Week 13 on the road against the Green Bay Packers, who looked much better this past Sunday in Pittsburgh.
