Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston thinks the team's new rookies are well aware of the struggles the franchise has faced in recent years.
The Buccaneers just haven't been able to find any consistency since winning a Super Bowl back in 2002, but Bruce Arians is hoping to make the franchise an NFC contender once again after back-to-back five-win seasons.
And Winston is already sensing that the group of rookies joining the roster understand that there's plenty of room for improvement moving forward.
From Greg Auman of The Athletic:
That's probably the mindset Arians and company want the newcomers to have as they enter their first season in Tampa, as it will take a motivated group to help the Bucs compete in the challenging NFC South.
It will also require Winston stepping his game up a notch, and there's no doubt that Arians will try to use his creative offensive methods to help in that area.
“This is an interesting group,” Winston said. “They acknowledge the fact that we haven’t done things very well on the field. Leading from the bottom is always one of the things that I try to encourage our young guys to do, and this class has really taken to that. Not in a negative way or a harmful way, but they’re not all that impressed by what’s been there and the outcome. We have guys who have been winners and know what it takes, and they’re ready to move the needle.”
