The 2019 NFL campaign was a strange one for Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston.

Winston led the league with 5,109 passing yards and threw 33 touchdowns, but he also tossed an NFL-worst 30 interceptions, making him the first player in history to finish with 30 touchdowns and 30 picks in a single season.

Obviously, Winston has a strong arm and could develop into a good quarterback if he just takes better care of the football, which is why the Buccaneers seem to be leaning toward bringing him back in 2020.

Winston knows he can play, but he also understands that he needs to improve:

“I know I’m confident in my abilities,” Winston said, according to Rick Stroud of The Tampa Bay Times. “I know I’m a baller. I know I’m going to fix my mistakes. … I’m focused on how I can get better, because I know if I eliminate those, I’m going to be the best. That’s bar none. You better check your sheet. I eliminate those, I’m going to be the best.”

The 25-year-old threw 10 interceptions over his final four games, including two in a dreadful performance in a season-ending loss to the Atlanta Falcons this past Sunday.

Winston, who played his collegiate football at Florida State, was originally selected by Tampa Bay with the first overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft. He showed promise over his first couple of seasons, making the Pro Bowl during his rookie campaign, but since then, Jameis Winston has struggled mightily.

It also doesn't help matters that the Bucs, who went 7-9 this season, have not made the playoffs since the 2007-08 campaign, representing the longest active drought in the NFC.
