Leonard Fournette was a late scratch for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday due to an ankle ailment. Despite wanting to suit up versus the Green Bay Packers, Fournette reacted to Bruce Arians' decision to keep him out with his ankle injury.

It was revealed on Sunday morning that the Buccaneers were expected to get Fournette back in the offense. Fournette suffered the ankle injury in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos and he missed the team's ensuing game versus the Los Angeles Chargers.

While Fournette was active for Tampa Bay in Week 5, he didn't log a single snap in the backfield. And even though he was expected to be available for the Buccaneers in Week 6, Arians chose to keep him sidelined.

In all likeliness, Arians probably wasn't too confident with what he saw from Fournette in pregame workouts for the Buccaneers. At the same time, he was comfortable with the other three running backs on the roster.

The three running backs that Arians deployed on Sunday included Ronald Jones, LeSean McCoy, and Ke'Shawn Vaughn. However, the one Buccaneers running back who has emerged as the No. 1 back in the offense is Jones.

In the past three weeks for the Buccaneers, Jones has rushed for 330 yards on 60 attempts and two touchdowns. Following his stellar outing against the Packers on Sunday, Jones is the only running back in the NFL to rush for over 100 yards in three consecutive weeks this season.

Fournette was known to have character concerns during his time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and he likely would have created headlines if he were sat out by Doug Marrone. But with him turning a new page, Fournette understands why Arians kept him sidelined in Week 6.
