Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette took to Twitter to defend his LeSean McCoy who was labeled a “non-factor” for the team this season. Fournette bared that McCoy has been instrumental in his development and serves as an important voice in the locker room.

LeSean McCoy came over to the Buccaneers during the recent offseason and was supposed to participate in snaps whenever primary rusher Ronald Jones heads to the bench. However, the arrival of Leonard Fournette from the Jacksonville Jaguars definitely took away most of his touches on the field.

The six-time Pro Bowler in McCoy only tallied 31 rushing yards on 10 carries but managed to produce 101 receiving yards on 15 receptions through 10 games played this season. Despite seeing limited action, McCoy definitely contributed to the progression of his mentee in Fournette.

After a tumultuous stint in Jacksonville, Fournette has now gained a new lease in his career and emerged as an integral piece of the Bucs offense. With McCoy's guidance, the former LSU standout produced 367 rushing yards on 97 attempts and six touchdowns through 13 appearances.

Despite the difference in their production on the field, the two players are still heading to the Super Bowl LV as members of the Buccaneers in a couple of weeks. It will certainly be a momentous game for McCoy as he is set to face his former team in the Kansas City Chiefs where he played and won a Super Bowl LIV title last season.

A part of Leonard Fournette's recent emergence can definitely be attributed to the veteran's valuable impact on him as a teammate. At the end of the day, it is safe to say that LeSean McCoy truly had a significant role to play in the Buccaneers squad in one way or another.
